Youn is developing her skills as a barista while strengthening her confidence, technology skills and English for a more independent future.
Barista and café skills
Sponsorship contributes to shared housing, daily living, transport, continued training and regular DYP follow-up during the project year.
Youn joined the DYP Learning Center to continue learning and build practical skills for adult life. Through training and daily practice, she has become more confident in managing responsibilities, working with others and planning for her future.
Today, her main vocational pathway is barista training. She is gaining hands-on experience in coffee preparation, beverage service and café operations while continuing to develop her English and assistive technology skills.
Youn is already taking responsibility within DYP’s barista facility and supports other students as they practise. The Semi-Independent Living Project gives her an opportunity to carry this confidence into shared community living, where she can practise budgeting, household management, travel and decision-making with regular DYP guidance.
“For me, independence means being able to travel on my own and run my own business.”Youn
