Inclusive Education Support for Visually Impaired Students

The collaboration between Discover Your Possibilities (DYP) and Siem Reap Provincial Special Education High School (SRSE) strengthens special education support in Siem Reap. By combining DYP’s experience from the Learning Center with SRSE’s school environment, the program creates a practical pathway for education for visually impaired students inside the public-school system.

Students receive accessible learning materials, health and hygiene support, emotional encouragement, and the chance to join social and recreational activities. This inclusive education program helps students gain confidence, build friendships, and prepare for further study or vocational training.

Ensure that students with visual impairments access quality education, safe environments, and the tools they need to succeed.

Focus

How We Strengthen Special Education in Siem Reap

The program is implemented directly on the campus of Siem Reap Provincial Special Education High School. Support is part of daily school life, not a separate project. Students move between classrooms, dormitories, and activity spaces using white canes and other assistive devices, guided by trained teachers and staff.

This special education support in Siem Reap ensures that students can practice mobility, social skills, and academic skills in the same environment where they live and study.

Stronger social relationships

Recreational and social activities help students feel included and supported by their peers.

Higher academic performance

Specialized teaching and inclusive methods support better results in key subjects, preparing students for future education or vocational training.

How the partnership works

SRSE provides the school environment, classrooms, and dormitories. DYP contributes assistive devices, training, staff, and technical support. Both partners coordinate logistics, including budget, transportation, and scheduling.

Student enrollment: Students join this collaboration through their enrollment at SRSE. There is currently participation coordinated directly with SRSE and DYP teams in Siem Reap.
