Direct Assistance Program (DAP)
The DYP Direct Assistance Program provides support for families with visual impairments across rural Siem Reap. Our monthly activities include delivering food packages, coordinating health referrals, and assisting with shelter repair and housing support for those living in unsafe conditions.
Why the Direct Assistance Program Matters
Many blind and visually impaired people in Siem Reap province live in challenging living conditions, with limited access to food, healthcare, or safe housing. These pressures make it harder for them or their children to attend school, join skills training, or plan for the future.
The Direct Assistance Program (DAP) supports these families with monthly food packages and modest financial stipends. By reducing daily financial stress, DAP opens the door for education, vocational training, and healthier living.
Principles: dignity, consent, do-no-harm, accessibility, and confidential data protection for every beneficiary.
What Support Includes
Monthly food packages
Rice, pantry staples, and essential household items delivered directly to the home of each beneficiary family.
Financial stipends
Modest monthly subsidies to help cover transport, medicine, school costs, or other urgent needs.
Health referrals & nutritional support
Direct referral to provincial referral hospitals and support for nutrition during treatment.
Shelter repair & basic housing support
Where possible, basic repairs or small shelter improvements for blind and visually impaired people living in difficult conditions.
Links to education & skills training
Counseling and referrals so beneficiaries or their family members can join DYP’s Learning Center and other vocational programs.
How Families Are Selected & Supported
Referrals from community & authorities
Village leaders, commune councils, and other partners refer families where a member is blind or visually impaired and facing economic hardship.
Home visits & case assessment
DYP staff conduct home visits using a structured questionnaire to understand income, living conditions, health, and education needs.
Selection & individual support plan
Based on clear, transparent criteria, families are selected and support packages are defined (food, stipend, health referral, housing, or combined).
Monthly delivery & follow-up
Community staff deliver food packages in person, confirm receipt, and record changes in the family’s situation.
Monitoring, counseling & graduation
Families receive basic counseling, referrals to education and vocational programs, and may gradually reduce support when their situation stabilizes.
Secure Data & Confidentiality
Each beneficiary’s information is entered into DYP’s secure data management system. Access is limited to authorized staff, and data is used only for case management, reporting, and accountability to donors and authorities.
Confidential case files and digital records
Photo documentation when consent is given
Regular monitoring & evaluation reports
Aggregated statistics for donors and partners
