Sreyteit is preparing for employment as a barista while advancing her English, music, assistive technology and independent living skills for a self-reliant future.
Barista training & English study
Sponsorship contributes to shared housing, daily living, transport, continued training and regular DYP follow-up during the project year.
Sreyteit joined the DYP Learning Center after several years without access to suitable education or training. At DYP, learning Braille became an important step toward reading, writing and engaging with learning materials more independently.
She now specialises in barista training, including coffee preparation, beverage service and basic café operations. Alongside this pathway, she continues intermediate English study and develops assistive technology and music skills, including guitar and xylophone.
During the Semi-Independent Living Project year, Sreyteit’s main vocational responsibility will be working as a barista while continuing her English studies. She will also manage more of her schedule, travel, shared household duties, budgeting and daily decisions, with regular DYP guidance.
“Independence truly means self-reliance, making income, going anywhere, self-management, and living just by depending on yourself.”Sreyteit
Her current pathway combines professional barista practice, English study, music and assistive technology with the practical skills needed for employment and independent living.
Developing coffee preparation, beverage service, equipment care, customer support and consistent professional work routines.
Continuing intermediate English study to strengthen communication, confidence and future opportunities in work or teaching.
Developing performance skills through guitar and xylophone practice while building confidence, focus and creative expression.
Using assistive technology while practising budgeting, travel, time management and everyday decision-making.
After completing the project, Sreyteit plans to continue her education and professional development while earning her own income. She hopes to build a flexible future through coffee work, music performances or teaching English to children.
Use her barista, English and music skills to earn income, support her family and create several possible pathways for the future.
