Urgent Funding Needs
Imagine you are blind or severely visually impaired and living in a country, where about 18% of the population is living under the poverty line which the Royal Government of Cambodia set the national minimum at 10,951 riels (2.75 USD) per person per day. The poverty rate is the highest in rural areas (22.8 percent) where our target persons come from. There will be not much help out for you.
Nationwide there are far more children and adolescents with vision loss than school places. Only an estimated 1.3% are currently taught at school.
DYP was able to purchase 10,603 m2 of land for a bigger and adequate Learning Center to be built providing educational support, skill training, and different vocational training opportunities to more people with visual impairments. Also, this would enable us to pursue our Future Plans.

Private Sponsorships
We would like to encourage private sponsorships for our 12 Pilot students at the Center, in order to save money on behalf of the students for the time they leave the Center, A monthly stipend of 40 $ would:
- Make the transition easier for them
- In terms of finding a place to live
- Have enough funds
- For food
- Healthcare
- Transport
- Maybe a sighted caretaker to be engaged
- Dealing with “own” money
- Having funds for their livelihood earning projects, like Hamock making
- After leaving the Center the former students will have the pleasure to stay in contact with their sponsors, with the English they have learned by then……
